2020 brought us a ton of new games, some that you may have missed. Check out the hidden gems of 2020 here. 2021 will bring you just as many new and exciting games, many of them coming out in the first half of the year. We can’t wait to tell you more!

Trek 12
Studio: Lumberjacks Studio
Ages: 8+ / Players: 1-50 / Play Time: 20 minutes
Estimated release: February 2021

Trek 12 has players trekking through the Himalayas and opening new routes to the summits. Wits and mettle are essential to make the best choices, boost your reputation and even become a legendary alpinist!

Discover the strategic depth of this “roll-and-write” style game, where you roll the dice and write down the results according to a variety of factors. Don’t just accept your dice roll and call it a day. Knowing when to transform your results into something that fits your strategy can make the difference between reaching the summit or not.

With three different game modes and a “print-and-play” version available here (printable version available in French only), Trek 12 offers you multiple ways to embark on your Himalayan adventure!

Jurassic Brunch
Studio: The Flying Games
Ages: 7+ / Players: 2 / Play Time: 15 minutes
Estimated release: January 2021

Young Triceratops is a herbivorous, but not docile species. To win, your Triceratops team will have to eat more leaves than the opposing team … unless you choose to use the formidable and fast Raptor to eliminate all the opposing Triceratops from the prairie!

The follow-up to the popular Jurassic Snack, this new 2-player game is accessible for the entire family. But we should warn you that it can get pretty competitive when the kids aren’t playing! With the perfect balance of strategy and chance, this standalone expansion (meaning that it can be played on its own or combined with Jurassic Snack) will please kids and adults alike.

Fiesta de los Muertos
Studio: Old Chap Editions
Ages: 12+ / Players: 4-8 / Play Time: 15 minutes
Estimated release: February 2021

Welcome to the Fiesta de los Muertos. On this sacred day, the dead are back! Choose a word to describe your deceased character. But beware, this word will pass from hand to hand, and change little by little… Can you find your character and the character of the other players?

New to the Canadian market, this game has already proven its worth, being nominated for the prestigious As d’Or de l’Année Tout Public (Game of the Year, all audiences) prize at the Cannes Games Festival in 2020. A fun party game that will bring back memories of playing “telephone” where the info you start with is never what you end up with!

Fiesta de los Muertos includes several game modes with different difficulty levels, allowing you to adapt your games to the age of the players present, or to your level of competitiveness!

In the palm of your hand
Studio: La Boite de Jeu
Ages: 10+ / Players: 2-8 / Play Time: 30 minutes
Estimated release: March 2021

Léon’s souvenir box fascinates his grandchildren: “Let’s mime the pictures to recreate grandfather’s memories!” He closes his eyes, holds out his hand, and the children mime out his memories with objects from his souvenir box.

This game is in the same style as the classic Dixit. Use your imagination to reproduce the image you see on a card in the palm of your partner’s hand, using various objects. That player must then guess the correct card from a selection of cards in the play area.

The game includes a cooperative, a competitive, and even a story mode, offering endless possibilities.

Match 5
Studio: Synapses Games
Ages: 10+ / Players: 2-8 / Play Time: 30 minutes
Estimated release: March 2021

In MATCH 5, you look for common links between 2 words or groups of words. You have 3 minutes to find creative answers for each of the 10 dice combinations. Make links, create connections!

We love this fourth game from Quebec Publisher, Synapses Games! Superb dice, a unique game style and thousands of possible dice combinations! We also love that the game can be taught in less than one minute! MATCH 5 is sure to bring you tons of fun family game time!

Can wait to try it out? An online or printable version is available here.
